A history of Willamette St in Eugene, OR including 'DRAGGIN' THE GUT' in the 70s (equivalent of the MIRACLE MILE in Detroit) when it was still legal to have fun in Commiegon.. I put many miles on 'THE GUT', lmao.. (BTW, I no longer live there, I'm now in the RED south where I belong..) Willamette is now a permanent pedestrian only mall with concrete & steel barriers at every access point, the only vehicles allowed are bicycles. NOLA should have done that decades ago seeing as those 2 streets are where all the significant events happen - Mardi Gras & other big celebration parades take place every year..

I lived in Eugene when I was about 10 for about a year. it was a very quiet , likable place as I remember it.
