🦅 #July4iscoming
The Bald Eagle has been the national bird of the United States since 1782, a symbol of pride and strength that earned it a place on the seal of the United States. Contrary to its name, the bald eagle is not actually bald, but has a full head of feathers, their white-feathered heads gleam in contrast to their chocolate-brown body and wings.
🦅 Once on the brink of extinction, endangered by hunting and pesticides, Bald Eagles have flourished under protection and their comeback is one of America’s most famous conservation success stories. From an all-time low of 417 pairs throughout the United States in 1963, their number grew to over 70,000 pairs by now.
